We are thrilled that you are considering a visit with us here at Westgate. When you come you will find friendly people, Christ honoring music, and a practical lesson from God’s Word. We want to make your visit pleasant and uplifting for you and your whole family. At the auditorium entrance, greeters and ushers are available to answer your questions, direct you to the nursery or any of our children and adult classes, or guide you to a seat.
Prior to our morning service we have Bible classes for children, teens, and adults to better learn God’s Word and how to apply it to life. Caring, competent teachers will show your children God’s love as they provide age appropriate instruction in a clean, safe environment. Our tiered adult Bible classes are a great opportunity to make new friends, and gives us the time and personal setting to really connect with you. Regardless of your stage of life, from college student to senior adult, we have a class with relevant content, a friendly teacher, and real people with whom you can easily relate as we walk life’s journey together.
Our services consist of conservative, inspiring hymns and music sung by our congregation and choir to magnify the Lord Jesus and remind us of the greatness of our God, and clear straightforward Bible teaching and preaching to help us know Him more and follow His will. Your heart will be encouraged to admire and respond to God.
The middle of the week is a great time to get spiritually refreshed. In the midst of our busy lives, our midweek service is a chance to pause and refocus on prayer and Bible study. In addition to a list of previously submitted prayer requests, we take requests from those in attendance, and take time to pray for each other. The prayer time is followed by a Bible study that typically walks through a book of the Bible or a particular topic.
Meanwhile, the children and teens have their own programs on campus. The teens meet upstairs in the teen building for youth group – an exciting hour and a half event that includes games, snacks, group discussion, prayer and a Bible lesson geared to help our teens make wise decisions and follow God. The children meet for Kids4Truth in the Easler building. Kids4Truth is a fun and enriching program that teaches children key Bible doctrines in age appropriate ways. There are games, workbooks, badges, scripture memory, and various service projects to teach our children how to better know and follow their Master – Jesus Christ
No. During our services we take an offering when our church family gives to God for the work of the gospel. As our guest, you are not expected to give in this offering, but instead we want our service to be a gift and blessing to you.
We have no dress code for those who attend Westgate Baptist. Our concern is that the Lord speak to your heart; not the formality of your attire. Visiting a new church can be an uncertain experience, and many guests may like an idea of what others will be wearing so they won’t feel out of place. On Sundays many of our church family will be wearing attire ranging from corporate casual to traditional “Sunday Dress” including coat and tie or dresses. On Wednesday evenings we are more relaxed with the children and teens dressed for their activities and games. For children and teens, closed toed shoes are recommended on Wednesday evenings for the game times.
We have guest parking near the auditorium entrance.
Traditional and uplifting. We have a choir and orchestra rather than a band and praise team. We have chosen to draw on our rich heritage of Christian music by singing hymns. This musical core is accented by a sprinkling of Christ honoring choruses, and select instrumental and vocal selections shared by our choir, individuals, and ensembles.
Family – it’s a great word to describe our church. We are people of different ages, backgrounds, and many walks of life who have trusted in Christ alone to restore us to God and make us His children. We have been born again into the family of God. We genuinely love and care for each other; we pray for and support one another. We encourage each another to walk with God. Like a family, in addition to worshiping, learning, serving, and growing together, we also like having fun together. We have a variety of activities like the fourth of July BBQ and Thanksgiving dinner where we have a great time sharing our lives together – we’re family.
We are an unaffiliated, non-denominational Baptist church. This allows us the flexibility to follow God’s leading in conducting our ministry, calling our pastors, and partnering with the missionaries and ministries of our choice.
